B&N Third Quarter Report announced: Sales are up 5% and net income is down 14.2%  B&N CEO William Lynch stated, “In the third quarter, our traffic and sales in stores were the highest we’ve seen in five years.” See Shelf Awareness for more.

B&N announces new tablet. Enter the 8GB, $199 Nook Tablet into the market. EContent reports how this move puts the Nook in direct competition with Kindle Fire.

PW asks what is going on with the Google Affiliate program. Google is no longer accepting applications for the program. Publishers Weekly reported “With no prior announcement Google stopped accepting applications for affiliates to its Google eBooks program two weeks ago.”

Amazon keeps asking for more and more, but apparently not getting enough. PaidContent stated that Amazon took 5,000 Kindle IPG Titles off the site as a result. Here is a round up of reactions to Amazon’s move over the Independent Publishers Group.
